There's Alot going On // Vic Mensa

Seeing how we're done with the whole classics week, from here on out I'll be going though projects that I like and not just new releases. So to start off this week I decided to go with a newer album that I've had on repeat the past couple days; There's Alot Going On by Vic Mensa.

I've heard stuff by Vic before and I know he's had a Mixtape already but the first thing that put him on the map for me was his single "U Mad" featuring Kanye West. I really enjoyed that song and expected this album to be like that. This album caught me by surprise because it wasn't really like his other stuff I've heard. On this album, he put in more effort in the wordplay and flow, I could tell he put more work into the meaning behind the lyrics rather than how catchy his songs are.

A reoccurring topic on this album is equality and police brutality. You can tell that songs like 16 Shots were made to be used in protests much like Kendrick Lamar's "Alright". Vic also brings up the fact that he's recently been signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation label, I swear he implements it into every song.

Overall this project has some pretty good elements and is a good place to start if you're looking into listening to Vic Mensa.
