Seeing how this is supposed to be classics week I found it perfectly fit for me to add in Yeezus to the mix. I remember at the time this album was released I was going into exams in tenth grade, I was also trying to identify with a genre of music. That year a big thing for me and the dudes I hung out with were Soundcloud producers but more specifically, trap music.
With all the people around me being heavily interested in a specific sub-genre of music I took it upon myself to discover what the rap world has to offer. While listening through some Spotify playlists, I noticed a commonality between the tracks that were being played. A lot of songs that came through the shuffled playlists were from Watch the Throne and Cruel Winter. Something about these songs sparked an interest in me, so I did some research and found out that Kanye West had a big part of each of those projects, and after researching some more I found out that Ye was releasing an album soon, so I decided to go ahead and keep my eye out for the release date.
Something about the futuristic sound and feel of this album really stuck with me, and left me even more interested than I initially was. I will always consider this album one of the albums that really put me on to the whole hip hop/rap scene.
All of the songs bang, listening through this album again is the best thing because it reminds me of all of these heavy tracks. If there is one song I recommend the most I'd say listen to I'm In It, the song goes buck when Assassin comes in for the second verse good god. Cannot recommend this album enough, one of my all time favourites.
